The report was first published in the Lancet Planetary Health.
The report says the annual population weighted mean exposure to ambient particulate matter PM 2.5 in the country was an alarming 89.9 ug per cubic metre for over two-third of Indians against a limit of 40 ug/m3 recommended by the National Ambinent Air Quality Standards in India.
But centre is trying to reduce air pollution by 20-30 % in 102 cities across the country by 2024.
Besides Delhi , the cities in the list include Mumbai ,Pune Varanasi, Allabad , Kolkatta,Bengaluru, Chandigarh ,Jaipur, Jammu,Patila, Jalandar , Ludhiana, Patna anafd Hydrabad maong otherds.
